French Beaded Chandy is Up

The living room finally has a proper chandelier.
This is a vintage basket style beaded chandy.
This chandy deserved a ceiling medallion, so I selected this large one.
I painted the entire thing in Folk Art craft paint, champagne color,
then used the brown wax to antique it.
I finished it off with Rub n' Buff Antique Gold.
This task was not high on Mr. Maison Decor's list
 this memorial day weekend.
Thankfully he went along with what was high on my list!
Anytime you work with old light fixtures there may be issues.
This one did not come with a ceiling cover.
I picked this one up at Home Depot
and painted it with Rub n Buff in antique gold.
However the cap was too large, so luckily Mr. MD
was able to use a metal grinder and cut away
the excess of  the canopy cap so it fit inside the medallion.
The chandy and the medallion look great with the mirror and the curtain rods.

I turned on the lights in the room for a few pictures.
It really dresses up the room.

Look what is in the doorway of this pretty french hotel!
This looks just like my chandy, and it was featured on Greige
this weekend. She saw it in a Paris hotel and loved it~
I guess it really is a french light fixture!
Here was the original light in the room.
Here is the new girl in town.
C'est si bon!

It's gorgeous, Amy! I love the chandelier and the medallion. I love the molding above your fireplace too. Your home should be featured in Romantic Homes Magazine. xo

What a gorgeous light, Amy! Your living room is amazing! Love the trim over the mantle too.
I agree with Debby...your home really should be in Romantic Homes.

The medallion echo's the round table underneath too! Do those come in two pieces and you just snap them around the fixture to the ceiling? I would hate to have to take a light fixture down to do that.

It looks beautiful. It goes so well with your sconces. It really warms up the room and pulls the mirror and curtain rods all together. Are you going in there and turning it on and off a lot? That is what I do when I install a new chandi. That really was a great French find! Love the medallion too.

Oui, c'est si bon! Si beau et très chic!

Such an amazing score, Amy! The medallion and cap add the finishing touch to this gorgeous piece. It is like jewelry in the room, and really does compliment the mirror and drapery poles very well. I love everything about this!

If it were me, I'd be staring at it all day and turning the switch on and off, but I'm just weird like that! LOL!

Best,

Kimberly

I always or easily forget how much difference the right light fixture makes in a room. I overlook that a lot. Not here. Wow! I knew it was beautiful but it's even prettier hanging in your living room. It needed to be there. It looks just like the one in the French hotel. How cool!

We had problems with the ceiling stuff when we put our first ceiling fans in. It's way too hot here to care if ceiling fans are in style or not. :)

I just got your sketch in the mail today. Perfect! I'm going to put it in my entry way against a pale yellow wall. Its the wall next to the window by the front door. I'll take pictures. I'm so happy with it. :)

Hi Amy! I've been wanted to comment on this, but my computer was getting a fix and for some reason I can't comment on your blog on my iPad. Anyway, I just wanted to say that this looks amazing...even better than in the previous post where you showed it arriving (light will do that, huh?). Also, the bead work is so beautiful, which I didn't notice as well in the other post. It looks GREAT!!!
