Feather Tree Obsession

A classic feather tree.
I want one.
You can decorate it however you want,
and for all seasons.
Colors, especially pastels, look fabulous on this tree.
A country theme of paper doves and a pail receptacle.
Silver balls decorate a silver tinsel feather tree.
I love this  tree sitting in an urn with a huge blue bow.
Cute idea for a buffet table:
Hang pizzelle candy cones from
a feather tree's branches.

Not a feather tree but I might put mine
inside a champagne bucket like this!
This is a variation on feather trees in colors.
Martha Stewart sets up
a feather tree display dripping in icicles.
It looks gorgeous!
Feather trees are Martha's favorite.
Martha sells a feather tree through Macys, pictured above.
I think its $60 for a 24" tree.
I found my 24" Martha Stewart feather tree on Ebay!
It will be here within one to two weeks....yippee!
Enough time for me to enjoy it.
It comes with the Martha Stewart ornaments too.
I only paid $15 for it, so that was a score.
I think the picture was a bad one so no one bid on it,
because there was another one that was going over $55
and there were 10 hours left on the bidding.
So if you want a feather tree,
or even vintage bottle brush trees like these,
hit Ebay and look closely..
you might just get lucky too.

Christmas Inspiration

source: Martha Stewart
As I put away my Thanksgiving dinner dishes
I am excited to think about decorating for Christmas.
Leave it to Martha Stewart to have a beautiful pink tree.
I love pink, but this tree won't be mine.

Oversized ornaments in ball, icicle and snowflake shapes
create a winter wonderland effect.

Icy greys and whites mix with warm beige.

This is soft and feminine done in whites, creams and pinks.
A white tree is dreamy, but I've never gone that far.
Its a pretty look though...

I fell in love with this skinny tree decked out in dishes.
Cindy's dining room looks so pretty in
her Christmas scheme of blue and white.
Once upon a time I had a tree in my dining room too...

Martha does it again!

This table top tree is an option for those
with limited space or decorating inclination.

Classic traditional style with a minimum of ornaments,
however I like to load my tree up, don't you?
I think I would add some soft peach and purple ornaments.

What a charming living room with this little feather tree
stealing the thunder of the large tree in the corner.
I love this idea of a darling tree on a coffee table.

Another version of a feather tree.
Vintage inspiration.
Ornaments hang freely for clear viewing.
I am on the hunt for my own feather tree!

I'll be decking my halls soon and needed some inspiration.
Aqua and pink will be in the mix I am sure!

Romantic Style Curtains...

Lauren Ross has cream silk panels hanging from black iron rods.
She has white linen slipcovered furniture, and yet ivory drapes.
I love Lauren's style and recently we have talked decorating
after someone told her about my blog!
How cool is that?
Her home is featured in The French Inspired Home book,
however this pic came from Cote de Texas.
I find it interesting to see a home that has been styled for
a book or magazine, and then to see it in its regular state.
Back to the subject at hand: curtains!
Romantic Style curtains make me think of
pale pink or white, ruffles, and softness.
Sandy Foster's "Shabby Streamside Cottage",
 the subject of her blog,
 has overflowing lace panels
for a deconstructed shabby look.
These could be tablecloths or lengths of fabric just hung up casually.
This ruffled linen panel has an edging on each ruffle.
Ruffles are popular right now...will they be too trendy?
It does hold appeal, and I can see them in pale pink.
I have enjoyed this blogland picture
of ruffled panels hung so they
droop and drape all over the furniture and floor.
These panels could be simply priscilla style curtains
like the ones I had in my purple and pink bedroom growing up,
 however not pulled back.
Country Curtains sells this "Felicity" curtain.
I think they used to be called "Priscilla".
Take off the tieback and if they are extra long
you will have a similar effect as the photo above.
These are just plain cotton or linen panels hung
from a wooden rod and ring.
French book cover shot, but kind of plain to me.
These are all the colors of linen that Ballard Designs carry.
I love them all, but am attracted most to blush and mineral.
These beautiful fabrics belong to
Rachel Ashwell's Shabby Chic couture line.
Rachell's guest bedroom has simple white panels
slightly ruched and hung from rings.
My dining room has simple voile panels gathered in the centers.
I like the calmness and simplicity, yet I want something that
is a custom design...after all it is what I do for a living.
I made these pink silk drapes for a client about 5 years ago.
I always loved them, but I would want
a silvery pink that Rachell Ashwell has in her bedroom.
Have you seen them?

A softer pink like these..but Rachel's are silvery pink.
I think the silvery pink would be pretty with the gray walls.
I can't deny that I love pink.
Actually these walls look like mine with the white trim.

In the meantime I will be getting ready to do my
300 followers (! ) Giveaway:
Its a decorating book called
Romantic Style
Cicobooks has offered one of my readers this
super romantic style guide.
You will love it!
Look for this next week.

Story of the White Chandelier

The dining room chandelier has been installed!
This was the original fixture...
(I admit I detested this light fixture).
This chandy brought nothing to the party.
Its so airy and light,  I love it!
Isn't she a beauty?
Well "she" used to be a "he chandelier....
Here is the same chandelier I bought for my NH kitchen.
I saw it in a window of an antique shop.
It had an antique brass finish,
but I wanted a wrought iron chandy
so I had Mr. Maison Decor spray paint it in matte black.
Here it has happily hung for almost 4 years.
However we just sold our NH house
so I had new plans for this baby.
I spray painted it white and then
had hubs drill tiny holes in the upper leaves.
This was a two person job to hold
the iron curled leaf out so he could get it at the tip.
Then I added crystals from various lamps and sconces.
The long crystal drops came from a lamp at the NH dump~FREE!
I added these to the bottom tier of leaves (iron curls at top).
For the top tier I mixed two styles of crystal drops.

This ring sat on a lamp and it had 8 perfect crystal drops.
I had some pink and purple prisms but decided against them
as it looked so pretty white with only crystal.
I draped some chandy strands that I took off
of my office chandelier through the "leaves"
that are on each candle holder.
*Bliss*
This chandelier is more than I hoped it would be!
I set the table for the celebration.
A pair of martini glasses and pitcher await the 5 o'clock hour.
Pale blues and pinks mingle with the whites and greys.
Cheers to my White Chandelier!
