Pink Mirror in Living Room

The pink mirror gets an audition in the living room.
This is the oval mirror that is normally in this room.
After making up the linen pillows that tied together
the purple transferware and the aqua blues of the dining room,
the dining room is feeling more cohesive....
except that PINK is now the third color
and it no longer feels right.
Three is a color crowd, when they are in equal parts.
The living room is mostly grey and white with splashes of blue and pink.
I have pink painted bookcase backs,
and a pink rug.
So I thought the pink mirror might look great in here.
However it doesn't feel as nice as the oval mirror did.
The pink mirror is too bossy~
it takes over the room.
I couldn't decide until I took these pictures and looked on my monitor.
So it will reclaim its spot in the dining room...
and get ready for a makeover.
It is the perfect size and style mirror for this chest, no doubt about it.
Something so lonely about this oval mirror here...
 the switcheroo did not work.
I now know what needs to be done to make it look right.
These are the dining room colors I have to work with.
I will miss my pretty pink mirror,
but do hope I will love the new look just as much.

I'll be sharing the new painted finish soon~

  1. So, purple or aqua, Amy? : ) I can't wait to see it, although I didn't think it looked bad in the living room. Between the two, I do think it works better for the dining room though.

  2. AQUA!!!!!!!!!! although the right shade of violet would be very daring.

  4. WOW - the pink mirror is very pretty indeed and it added a nice punch of color in the almost all white room! I'm curious what color you will change it to.

By the way, my eyes are immediately drawn to your smocked white curtains and the ruffled skirt that you added to your couch (sigh!). I am in love with this room Amy.

  7. I'm sure whatever you decide will be beautiful. Have you thought about adding color to the oval mirror for a little pop?

  10. Amy, whatever you do please leave the mirror pink. I dream about your mirror and I have been searching for a mirror shaped like yours so I could paint it pink. One actually slipped through my hands last week. I went back to get it and it was gone!!! (sigh)
I'm sure you will make it work. I actually like it over the sofa too.
Knowing you, it's all going to look fabulous!

  21. I agree that the pink mirror is gorgeous, but since I'm going backwards on your blog and have seen how you repainted it, I LOVE it more. I sort of agree that it was too much over the sofa but that's just me, I guess. I love it over the chest, where you have it now. Oh, and I think Kim had a good idea too...maybe paint the oval one pink?
