Powder Blue Christmas Mantel

The mantel is decorated with a combination of
faux and fresh greens with a few pinecones and ribbons.
Fresh cedar and pine clippings enhance a
base of faux garland and gives the fresh look I love.
Having a fire going during the holiday month dries out real garland,
so this is the solution that works well here.
Three wired ribbons in charcoal and silver damask,
powder blue and silver mesh are added for sparkle.
The blue ribbon looks pretty with the floral bookcase fabric
and is close in color to the powder blue paint, Ben Moore Glass slipper,
that was dry brushed onto the mantel and arched decoration.
The front door urns are inside this year on
the hearth holding small flocked trees in burlap root balls.
The cedar drips gracefully off the edge of the mantel.
A small unadorned wreath hangs by ribbon from the mirror.
This little golden reindeer is from my childhood
when we lived in Thailand, once a set of 8.
Now several of us kids have possession
of  a few of these charming nods to our past.

  11. Beautiful Amy...I used real garland last year and within a week it was a fire hazard...so now I use faux. I am glad you mentioned tucking in real bits and pieces, because that would work! You could pull them out and add fresh when they dry our. Thanks for the idea!

  39. Amy, I love your mantel. I am especially fond of the colors. They are my favorite. Love the urns on each side of the fireplace. I normally use fresh and faux greens also. You can always replace a few sprigs but it is impossible to replace entire garlands.
Please come over and see my mantel and banisters.
    Merry Christmas, Ginger
