The Union Jack pattern got a lot of coverage due to the
royal wedding last month.
The graphic is cool but I am not into primary colors...
but when I read Rachel Ashwell's post
on hunting down a pastel union jack I found myself inspired.
She created her Shabby Chic version of the union jack flag.
I loved how this came out~as I love most everything she does.
I cut out some aqua blue matalesse and stitched some
petite cotton floral strips in the pattern on the British flag.
Top stitching with raw edges exposed for that easy shabby look.

ReplyDeleteHi Amy!
ReplyDeleteI have not been able to comment on your blog all week. Blogger would not let me post or comment plus it kept changing the font on my blog!
I love how your living room has evolued! It is great to know i am not the only one who has done so many changes to one room...my hubby needs to read that post!
How exciting that you got asked to be in a magazine! Your home is magazine worthy!
Love this union jack pillow..so pretty!!
I *LOVE* this! You did an awesome job of it!
ReplyDeleteI actually have A LOT of Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic fabric that I got at a fabric store here in the Los Angeles area that sold her fabric (they just recently went out of business), and that stuff is expensive! Luckily I got mine at a discount, but still costly stuff. I am going to dig out my fabric and put together my own Union Jack (pastel) pillow, you have so inspired me!
Best,
Kimberly
Very cute pillow. I've admired the Shabby Chic Union Jack pillows for awhile. Love your version.
