Pink Mirror in Living Room

The pink mirror gets an audition in the living room.
This is the oval mirror that is normally in this room.
After making up the linen pillows that tied together
the purple transferware and the aqua blues of the dining room,
the dining room is feeling more cohesive....
except that PINK is now the third color
and it no longer feels right.
Three is a color crowd, when they are in equal parts.
The living room is mostly grey and white with splashes of blue and pink.
I have pink painted bookcase backs,
and a pink rug.
So I thought the pink mirror might look great in here.
However it doesn't feel as nice as the oval mirror did.
The pink mirror is too bossy~
it takes over the room.
I couldn't decide until I took these pictures and looked on my monitor.
So it will reclaim its spot in the dining room...
and get ready for a makeover.
It is the perfect size and style mirror for this chest, no doubt about it.
Something so lonely about this oval mirror here...
 the switcheroo did not work.
I now know what needs to be done to make it look right.
These are the dining room colors I have to work with.
I will miss my pretty pink mirror,
but do hope I will love the new look just as much.

I'll be sharing the new painted finish soon~

  1. So, purple or aqua, Amy? : ) I can't wait to see it, although I didn't think it looked bad in the living room. Between the two, I do think it works better for the dining room though.

  2. AQUA!!!!!!!!!! although the right shade of violet would be very daring.
Kristy @ 4 the love of WOOD

  3. Can't wait. In the meantime, I love when you have my favorite Coffee Table in pictures!!

  4. WOW - the pink mirror is very pretty indeed and it added a nice punch of color in the almost all white room! I'm curious what color you will change it to.

By the way, my eyes are immediately drawn to your smocked white curtains and the ruffled skirt that you added to your couch (sigh!). I am in love with this room Amy.

  5. Thanks for taking us along on the test drive. That is what I do, too. You know when it feels like the right mix.

  6. Love it! Can't wait to see what you decide! So many lovely pieces to work with! I absolutely love the purple and aqua. I think its personal for me, reminiscent of my childhood. : ) I am impressed with your painted coffee table and walls.

  7. I'm sure whatever you decide will be beautiful. Have you thought about adding color to the oval mirror for a little pop?

  8. The mirror is gorgeous...I can't wait to see what you do!

  9. That is a stunning mirror...can't wait to see its new outfit! Love the ruffles on the sofa!

  10. Amy, whatever you do please leave the mirror pink. I dream about your mirror and I have been searching for a mirror shaped like yours so I could paint it pink. One actually slipped through my hands last week. I went back to get it and it was gone!!! (sigh)
I'm sure you will make it work. I actually like it over the sofa too.
Knowing you, it's all going to look fabulous!

  11. I really liked it in the living room over the sofa. I'm sad your moving it back to the dining room. Any chance you might rethink the decision. Hope you are doing well. xoxo!

  12. Pretty in Pink
cant wait to see what you do next ...

  13. Boo Hoo I love that pink mirror, but I know whatever you decide it will be beautiful.

  14. Oh...I kind of loved the pink mirror over the sofa. But it is a nice size for over the chest. Although I thought it was very nice over the sofa. Can't wait to see it in its new finish.

  15. I have to admit... I LOVE the pink mirror in the living room.
But, can't wait to see what you come up with.
    Have a pretty day!

  16. Love, love your is amazing! I can't wait to see what you do next!!!

  17. Look forward to what you paint it. You could paint the oval one pink.

  18. Well, you can always move it back, I think it looks great there!

  19. Amy, I liked the pink mirror in your living room but then again I also like it in the dining room. It is a beautiful mirror and will look great whatever color you paint it.

  20. Awww. I loved the pink and would probably think of you if I saw one like it....BUT change is apart of life and I know I love the new color...something to look forward to!!! So, get to painting, Amy! ;)

    Xoxo, Meme

I am having a Chalk Paint Giveaway...maybe you need some of

  21. I agree that the pink mirror is gorgeous, but since I'm going backwards on your blog and have seen how you repainted it, I LOVE it more. I sort of agree that it was too much over the sofa but that's just me, I guess. I love it over the chest, where you have it now. Oh, and I think Kim had a good idea too...maybe paint the oval one pink?

  22. p/s I like the ruffles on the sofa...probably in another post I missed.

  23. Amy, I love the fabric on your pillows...where might I find that? Your home is LOVELY! It is nice to change things up every now and then....experimenting and tweaking! How FUN!
