Kitchen is Done!

The kitchen remodel is finished! I will be sharing the behind the scenes and how-tos another day. Today is just showing how it all looks with the new countertops, back splash and sink in place. Above is the mini hutch I created out of the cabinet over the stove that was never used for anything..

I added bead board wallpaper to the interior to finish it off and it has added lots of charm to the tiny kitchen.

The new Formica counter tops spiffed up the kitchen and gave it a much lighter look. I hit the edges of the Formica with white paint and it rendered the seams almost invisible.

The big excitement was retrofitting a vintage 1940's drainboard sink into the scheme. Hubs and I love this sink! It is as deep as the old one was and is wider by quite a bit.

Here is the kitchen before painting cabs, new counter tops and sink.

And the after~overall this kitchen is so much brighter now. All in varying shades of whites and cream. I will be painting the back splash a shade of white I have yet to pick out.

The star of the day~chips and all~from Craigslist for $75 from one man's cellar to my kitchen! We put in a new faucet with a gooseneck silhouette. Hubs did the plumbing work, and I was his number one helper.

Does anyone need any dishes washed?

When I saw that you did not try to paint them, I thought It to myself..

YES!!! She left the chips there! So much vintage charm.

Love the cupboard over the stovetop...I think we all have those useless cabinets. They are either over the stove or the fridge...a man must have designed those things. I don't think I know a woman that finds them useful as closed cabinets. Removing the doors was brilliant.

The bead board wallpaper used for the backsplash came from Home Depot online and was martha stewart brand. The formica countertops were ordered at Lowes. The sink was a random find from Craigslist, the first one I saw had sold, so I kept looking and two days later another one popped up so I jumped on it. The sink was installed by cutting out a hole on the countertop and then it just rests on the top, but was secured with a silicone adhesive.
