A linen slipcover for Christmas

 Just like everybody else,
I am trying to get things ready for Christmas.
We add a bench to our table to accommodate the extra guests,
and it has always been a desire of mine to slipcover
it in a simple style so it blends in with the dining room better.
Yesterday I took the time to finally get it done.
The color is that blue green color which
is similar to the chairs around the table.
Here is is before in its dark wood and leather finish.
I never wanted to paint this bench and so the slipcover
was my solution to lighten it up and make it a little bit more romantic.
Voila~it has been transformed with 2.5 yards of linen fabric!
Just in time for Christmas.

I LOVE it!! I like it better with the slipcover than the idea of painting it anyway. I think it gives it a softer look and goes better with your dining room. I would leave it set up like that year round! Wish I could sew like you.

Love the linen bench.. It adds so much to your dinning room. I just bought linen drapes at Ikea. They were so cheap! We are moving and they were perfect to update my home with out spending a fortune. Merry Christmas!

Amy,

That's like the best thing ever, really, it has to be one of my favorite things you've done. It reminds me of something done by Pam Pierce, and her stuff is crazy beautiful. She is one of my favorite designers.

Amy, the bench had quite a transformation from dark to gorgeous! Your home looks pretty and so cozy. The pastel colors work well as Christmas colors. I have enjoyed watching the changes you have made and look forward to more decorating tips and ideas. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas with the ones you love.----------- Shannon

Hi Amy~ ~
Whn I sawcups in your chandy I went crazy! Why didn't I think of that? Now I have to scan the flea markets for some more cups and saucers. THEN. . .I looked at the last post and loved Helens chandy with the cups glued to the saucers. What a girl isn't she the most creative? I really dislike my diningroom chandy and this may be a way to chomo it till I find the one of my dreams. Wishing you a great holiday.

I love linen. I want to slipcover my sofa and loveseat in linen. I will practice with a drop cloth before I cut up the expensive linen fabric. You did a great job. It looks beautiful.
