The last of the summer roses~
I am having so much fun in my kitchen these days,
putting the finishing touches on a space that is so much more me.
I can't say enough about switching
out the counter tops to 180fx Formica Calacutta
and adding the big old vintage drainboard sink.
Do you put your dishwashing liquid in a vinegar bottle?
I found some lavender dishwashing liquid
at Trader Joes to match my color scheme.
I changed the curtain around a bit too.
I lowered the toile valance so it is now a tiny cafe curtain.
I paired it up with some lace panels on the
outside edges for a look that is soft and charming.
the silver plate trays and serving pieces.
Silver trays are used to coral the needful items
and keep the counters feeling neat.
This old sink still has quite a shine to her~
not bad for a 70 year old!
The first petal dropped while shooting
and by the end of the day this rose had lost them all.
A pair of tiny clipped boxwoods were found at Michaels.
I think boxwood is such a classic look~
I planted it along my walkway outside.
Boxwood is a favorite green at Christmas time too~
so these little boxwoods will be staying through the holidays.
This small elegant creamer came from my local antique co-op.
I put one of the boxwoods in a silver candy dish
and all together it makes a simple but classic vignette.
I do foresee a new light fixture in here~
thinking along the lines of a big lantern!
In the meantime, I am enjoying this cute kitchen very much!

I love your kitchen...very old world and romantic! I can give you (and your readers) a hint about matching your dishwashing detergent....I learned it from an interior decorator friend of mine. Buy clear detergent (there are LOTS of those everywhere) and add drops of food coloring to get your shade.....there's not enough to stain your hands and you can have almost any shade you want. I made a lovely aqua to match my kitchen!
ReplyDeleteIt's so light and bright in here, Amy! Your pictures come out even better with the white background! : ) I do put my dishwashing liquid in a decorative bottle I got from Pier 1. I've been doing that for about 15 years now. I never did get a spout piece but got colorful decorative ceramic toppers that I change out as the mood strikes. It must be such a happy feeling when you walk into your kitchen in the morning!
ReplyDeleteI can see why you're enjoying it so much. Every time I look back at when you started this project I'm blown away.
ReplyDeleteHey, I noticed the move in the valance before you said anything. I like it...probably gives a little more privacy but you still have all that light!
Nancy
p/s love the dish soap ideas for color above!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your kitchen! I am going to copy the idea of the corbels around the window in my own kitchen this very weekend! (with credit to you, of course!)
ReplyDelete...and I have serious sink envy!
I am enjoying looking at your cute kitchen too. Every little touch is perfectly charming! I don't put soap in a vinegar bottle but I just might now that you mentioned it. And I love your idea of a lantern light.
ReplyDeleteThanks for having us over its beautiful in that kitchen of yours!
ReplyDeleteI just love all the changes you've made in there. Those little boxwoods are so cute. You can use those year round! I didn't know Michaels had those. Your roses look so pretty in your kitchen. I think of your kitchen as an english garden style with all of your floral china plates and toile. It all works so well together. I like the idea of getting a new light in your kitchen. I think either a lantern, as you mentioned, or even a crystal style chandelier with the prisms that hang off it would be pretty.
ReplyDeleteAmy your recent styling of your kitchen is gorgeous! Love all the details...so nice and neat! My kitchen looks too cluttered now..ugh! I also need to do something new above the kitchen window! Very inspiring!~Hugs, Patti
ReplyDeleteAmy, I so love all of the changes in your kitchen. It makes me smile to see the mosaic tray there :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of displaying dish soap in a pretty bottle. I wish I had a window above my kitchen sink. My kitchen is in the center of the house.
Hi Amy! Your kitchen is so pretty! Love your tiny changes. Your kitchen is so pretty warm and cozy! Love how your decorate.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

ReplyDeletehugs, Cheryl
Such a charming home.
ReplyDeleteI can tell you are having lots of fun in your new kitchen. I love all the pretty details. I barely had roses this year and did not get any this fall. I guess the bushes were just too stressed. Love all the silver of course. Yes, I love boxwoods too. I have quite a few planted in my front beds. Those little ones from Michael's are very cute. Can't wait to see what you come up with for over the island.
ReplyDeleteI always love seeing pictures of your kitchen because it's so lovely. The lighter countertops made a huge difference in this room. As a vintage plate lover, I love all the beautiful plates you use in the deocr as well.
ReplyDeleteI Love it love it love it Amy!! It looks fabulous! Love what you did with the window treatments! I do put my dish liquid in a vinegar bottle and also look for one that matches my kitchen! lol It just flows right?

Lou Cinda :)
Your kitchen really looks pretty, Amy! I noticed the valance right away. I am stumped with my kitchen window...it's over the sink, too.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so bright and airy. I love how you have sweet displays and vignettes on your counters without them looking cluttered. Love the plate stand with all the pretty china and the boxwoods are beautiful...I have my garden at the lake surrounded by them.
Have a great day!!
XO,
Jane
Ooh, your window looks like shae has a toile petticoat now! Such a flirt, that window, with a touch of a ruffle at her lower edge
ReplyDeleteEverything is just gorgeous Amy! You are making me think white paint thoughts about my cherry cabinets!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I also love the valance placement, it's charming! Everything is so cozy and inviting! You are so fortunate to have roses so late in the season!
ReplyDeleteOMG, those roses are stunning. I can see you are having fun in your beautiful kitchen. I can't pick a fave, I love so many elements. Like the cheese box holding the romantic dishes.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right Amy. Your kitchen is "You!" I just love all the pretty details and I can see why you enjoy spending so much time in there.

I just adore your drainboard sink, such a wonderful find!
ReplyDeleteI've got to go enter the transfer ware giveaway.. thanks so much for the heads up!

Your kitchen is so pretty and yes, tidy as well. I tried using the vinegar bottle years ago but I guess I didn't have a good spout. It corroded. I thought it was stainless but I guess not. Now I have a stainless dispenser built into the countertop. I sure liked the look of the vinegar bottle. Hugs, Ginger
ReplyDeleteLove all the white & bright sparkle of your kitchen Amy...truly beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe what a transformation this is. It is so much brighter, and so much more YOU. I love it!
ReplyDeleteStacy
Your kitchen is looking so gorgeous Amy~ I just love all the changes you have made and touches you have added. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen just keeps getting better and better! I love that you design according to your own taste, not necessarily what everyone else is doing, and it turns out beautifully! The sink is still my favorite, coveting it a little. And I'm glad I'm not the only one who buys liquid soap according to color! :)
ReplyDeleteLove your kitchen!! So bright and cheery..and beautifully decorated. TFS. I have joined your followers list,as well as Pinterest, and invite you to join my followers list; as well,I hope you will grab a blog button. Hugs, Gayle

ReplyDeleteIt is all just absolutely gorgeous, Amy. You should link in with us at Pink Saturday.
ReplyDeleteI do put my dish liquid in a bottle by my sink. always pink, of course.
Your kitchen is stunning! I love everything about it. I know you are sad about the last of your roses, but you can always enjoy your photos! I love your light fixture, too!
ReplyDeleteMy dishwashing liquid is in a built-in thingie, so I do not have it in anything pretty, like a vinegar dispenser.
Amy...I love your kitchen...so romantic and pretty. Your vignettes are perfection...Must run to Michaels and get some boxwoods.....
ReplyDeleteI don't want to see that sink anymore...unless of course it's in MY kitchen! :)
